What is Symfohub?

About

Symfohub is a collection of all symfony related code stored on GitHub. Owners can add and edit their repositories to share them with community. By gathering tweets, comments, blogposts, rates, user's assertions we provide powerful social platform on symfony ecosystem.

This project is noncommercial and made in purposes of symfony community. We plan to increase quality and reusability of 3rd-party symfony's code by promoting the best symfony's plugins, bundles and application.

Features

  • GitHub OAuth integration - you can log into site using your GitHub login password. Authenticated users can add rates, edit their repositories, etc.
  • Twitter integration - all the buzz in twitter like here
  • Tags
  • Rates with 4 stars
  • Code highlighting for readme files (example)
  • Search and filters by code requirements. You can search by your symfony version, orm, and maybe nosql databases used.
  • Assertions. The idea was taken from http://railsplugins.org. Users say if this code (plugin, bundle, app) works well for them, or it requires custom patching, or code is not working at all. That should provide information on stability of plugins, bundles or apps.

How to Use Symfohub Right?

Whenever you use symfony plugin or bundle, please write a feedback on it. It's important for other developers to know what this code is about and does it solve the issues. So, every time you use plugin, you can do next things:

  • Tweet it, writing a plugin/bundle name in message text. Stmfohub will show this tweet on it's page.
  • Write a comment on a repository's page. All comments are powered by Disqus. Last comments are shown on sidebar.
  • Make an assertion - say the stability state of plugin.

If you develop Symfony plugins or bundles

You can add your repositories to Symfohub.

If the repository is already there, please, login with GitHub account and add tags and requirements manually.

Is Symfohub opensource itself?

Depends on what do you plan to do with it. If you want to help in development of symfohub - please contact me via email davert at mail.ua . In case you want to start your own project for non-symfony repositories for other frameworks (Kohana, for example) I can provide you with the code.

Right now is to early to publish SymfoHub on GitHub itself.
